Your first visit
About 75 minutes, mostly resting
A first visit is a little longer than the ones after it, because of a few forms and a short talk. After that, most of the time is rest in your chair. Come at the start of a room hour so nothing feels rushed, and walk in or book ahead.
Wear or bring
Sleeves and trouser legs that roll up
Socks you can take off
A list of the medicines you take
A light meal first

Step by step
What happens, in order
- 01
Step 1: Check in
Say hello at the desk. A short form asks for your name and how to reach you, not for medical details.
- 02
Step 2: A short talk
Your acupuncturist asks about your week, your sleep and what you take, and explains what comes next.
- 03
Step 3: The chair
A recliner, a blanket and a footrest. The needles go in, and you rest for about an hour.
- 04
Step 4: Before you leave
Needles come out, you ask questions, and we suggest when to come next. You choose what to pay at the desk.
Tell us first
Things to say before we begin
Say any of these to your acupuncturist before the first needle. None of them is a reason to stay away.
Pregnancy
If you are or might be pregnant, so we can skip some points.
Blood thinners or a bleeding disorder
So we can take extra care and press longer afterward.
A pacemaker or implanted device
So we avoid electrical stimulation near it.
Lymph nodes removed
So we keep needles out of the affected arm or leg.
Fear of needles
Say so. We can go slowly, start with ear seeds or choose a short ear visit.
What you take
Bring a list of your medicines and supplements.
Ready to come in?
Walk in during any room hour, or tell us when you plan to come.
