Care at Quilt
Recliner acupuncture
Acupuncture uses very thin, single-use needles at points on the body. Here, you sit back in a recliner with a blanket, stay dressed, and rest while a few needles are in place. Several people share the room, which is part of why the cost stays low.
Who usually comes
People who want regular visits without a weekly bill they dread
People who like a quiet room more than a one-on-one hour
People who have never tried it and want a gentle way in

A visit, in order
What happens, step by step
- 01
Step 1: We talk first
A few minutes about your week, your sleep and what you take, then your acupuncturist helps you into a chair.
- 02
Step 2: You settle in
A blanket, a footrest, the lights low. Roll up your sleeves and trouser legs and let your shoulders drop.
- 03
Step 3: The needles go in
A few fine needles in your arms, legs or feet. You may feel a pinch or a dull ache, and you can say so at any time.
- 04
Step 4: You rest
About an hour. Many people doze. We check on you, and you can call out whenever you like.
- 05
Step 5: The needles come out
Your acupuncturist takes them out, answers questions and suggests when to come next.
Good to know
Before and after
What you may feel afterward
Mild soreness at a point, light bruising, a heavy or sleepy feeling for the rest of the day. Drink some water and go easy on yourself.
Tell us first
Tell your acupuncturist before the first needle if you are or might be pregnant, take blood thinners, have a bleeding disorder, have a pacemaker or other implanted device, have had lymph nodes removed, or are afraid of needles.
How many visits people plan for
Your acupuncturist suggests a plan on your first visit, for example visits close together at first and then fewer. It is a suggestion, not a promise, and results vary.
What it does not do
Acupuncture does not replace your doctor's care or your medicines. If something feels wrong, such as chest pain, sudden weakness or a high fever, call your doctor or 911 instead of coming in.
