How fees work

Pay what you can, within a range posted at the front desk.

  • Insurance we work with

We don't bill insurance. Quilt is a community clinic, and you choose what you pay within the range posted at the front desk. If your plan may pay you back, we give you a receipt that you can send in.

    • Employer and marketplace plans: ask whether they reimburse acupuncture

    • Medicaid: it depends on your state and your plan, so ask your plan

  • If you pay yourself

Pay what you can. The sign at the front desk shows a range for a first visit and a range for a return visit, and you choose where in it you land, every time. Nobody asks you to show proof of income, and what you pay is never shared with the acupuncturist. If the low end of the range is more than you can manage, tell the front desk. We would rather work something out than have you skip care. HSA and FSA cards can often be used: ask your plan administrator.

  • Receipts for reimbursement

On request we give you an itemized receipt, called a superbill, that you can send to your plan. Your plan decides whether it pays anything back. Before you send it, ask your plan:

    • Is there an acupuncture benefit?

    • How many visits does it allow?

    • Is there a copay or a deductible?

    • Do I need a referral?

  • An estimate in advance

If you pay without insurance, you have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate of what care will cost before you start, and we give you one in writing in advance. If a bill is $400 or more above the estimate, you can dispute it. The estimate is not a contract.

  • Checking your benefits

Because we don't bill insurance, we can't check your benefits for you. If you plan to send a receipt to your plan, call it first and ask the questions above.

  • What the first visit includes

A first visit takes about 75 minutes: a few forms, a short talk with your acupuncturist, then your rest in the chair. Come at the start of room hours so there is time for all of it.
